Sally awarded MBE

Congratulations!

At the Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 1st May 2004 a service was held to mark 10 years of the ordination of women. The bishop would always be the celebrant at any service held in the cathedral but for this service he asked Sally if she would like to do it; thus making her the first female to celebrate communion at the cathedral.  A very proud moment for her and especially fitting as one of the women who has been there from the beginning and quietly fought for women to be accepted in the church.

This was news enough but in the Queen's Birthday Honours List Sally was awarded the MBE in recognition of the work she has undertaken for the rural community such as setting up the Annington Fund to aid farmers hit by swine fever. We are all thrilled for her and proud to have her as our vicar.
